CTOT = Calculated Take-Off Time, currently known as a slot (or departure slot). This is a specific time defined to regulate the trafic and avoid congestion. When the pilot is given a slot, he has to comply with it within a -5/+10 minutes interval. If your CTOT is 10:15z, you can't take off before 10:10 but if a little bit late, you can't take off after 10:25. Normally, if you miss your interval, you have to request another CTOT called NEWCTOT and keep in mind that priority is given to other slotted pilots who respect their own CTOT interval. When the pilot is ready in time, the controllers must manage the traffic to enable this pilot to take off into the proper interval. In FS, this is used sometimes for fly-ins to avoid people to come all at the same time and wait too much to get airborne, or have to stay for a long time into a holding pattern at the arrival airfield. A pre-subscription form is created and pilots are given slots so that they don't loose connection time when joining the session. As in real world, priority has to be given to slotted pilots. |
