This lesson is not a SB manual. The aim here is just to provide you with an additional information about the software. 1 - Re-connection : The quickest way to reconnect after an intempestive disconnection is to redo the full connection procedure. Servers may then indicate your present callsign is active and refuse the reconnection. In such a case, use a slightly modified version of your callsign (AF6624 instead of AFR6624 for instance). Remember not to use more than 7 characters. 2 - EHSI/TCAS display : There is no way to move this display directly wherever you want just as this could be done with a window. You have to stretch each side of the display for it to match with the HSI display of your panel for instance. The position of the EHSI remains into SB 'memory' so that you don't have to redo the procedure each time you use that panel. However, if you use another panel, you must stretch again the sides to fit the EHSI with the new panel. 3 - Internal PC/SB session : For training purposes, you can launch a SB session offline on your computer and launch PC on the same computer. Thus, you can study both SB and PC features by switching from one software to the other. The following procedure allows you to see your own aircraft on your PC screen.
- Open PC with the sector of your choice. - Menu HELP / ADD ONS / ALPHASOFTWARE / WINDOWS SERVER - In the new window, select FILE / LISTEN (You should see "The server is now listening" at the bottom). - Then in main PC menu, select FILE / CONNECT and enter IP 127.0.0.1.
- Start FS and place your aircraft on the airfield corresponding to the sector chosen in PC. - Launch SB (choose TCP/IP and NO MULTIPLAYER option). - In SB menu, select CONNECT and enter IP 127.0.0.1 (do not select the RW voice). - Have a look on the PC screen, you should see yourself.
Fly your aircraft, try squawk codes, ident, stand-by etc... and see what happens in PC. 4 - SB 2.3.5 and FS2002 : For FS2002, you need SquawkBox 2.3.5 and HostSB.dll. The connection procedure is as follows (more detailed in L1-Connect_Instr : - Open FS2002 and make sure you are connected to the Internet before executing the next actions. - Create a multiplayer session (Menu = Flight - Multiplayer - Connect then HOST). - Copy your session IP (Menu = Flight - Multiplayer - Host options). - Make sure you are in windowed mode (full screen mode may cause some problems) - Open HostSB window (Menu = Modules - HostSB - Run). - Launch Squawkbox 2.3.5 (TCP/IP - OK - START SEARCH - insert your IP - OK - JOIN) - Resize the HostSB window at your discretion, return to full screen mode if you wish and use SB and FS as usual. Note : keyboard commands are inoperative into FS if you click into HostSB window; you have to click anywhere into the FS window to have keyboard control again. |
