Here you have a short explanation about how to file a
correct IVAO FPL
For real
ICAO Flightplans
you will
need the ICAO FPL form from the download page.
Item 7 : Aircraft Identification (
Maximum 7 characters).
Insert one of the following :
-
The registration marking of the aircraft ( N7192KB , F-HAAB
, etc...), either alone or preceded by the ICAO telephony designator for
the operating agency.
-
The ICAO designator for the aircraft operating agency ,
followed by the flight number ( AF31KB, MK01KB , etc...).
-
The callsign determined by the military authorities (
FAF31KB , USAF178, etc...)
Item 8 : Flight Rules ( 1 character
)
Insert one of the following letters to
denote the category of flight rules which the pilot intends to comply.
-
I : when the totally of flight time
is going to be under IFR
-
V : when the totally of flight time
is going to be under VFR
-
Y : when first period of flight is
going to be under IFR and then under VFR
(*)
-
Z : when first period of flight is
going to be under VFR and then under IFR
(*)
(*) Specify in route item the
point or points at where a change of flight rules is
planned.
Type of flight ( 1 character )
Insert the following letters to denote
the type of flight :

S : if scheduled services.

N : if non-scheduled Air Transport Operations

G : if General Aviation
-
M : if Military
-
X : if other than any of the defined categories
above
Item 9 : Number and Type of aircraft
( 1 or 2 characters ).
Insert number of aircraft , but only
if more than one
Type of aircraft ( 2 to 4 characters )
Insert the appropriate designator as
specified by IVAO, or , if designator not
assigned insert ZZZZ and specify in item other
information ( numbers and ) and type (s) of aircraft preceded
by TYP/
Wake Turbulence Category ( 1 character )
Insert one of the following letters to
indicate the wake turbulence category of the aircraft :
-
H : Heavy , to indicate an aircraft type with a
MOTW of 136.000 kg ( 300.000 lb ) or more.
-
M : Medium , to indicate a MOTW less than 136.000
kg but more than 7.000 kg ( 15.500 lb ).
-
L : Light , to indicate a MOTW of 7.000 kg or
less.
Item 10 : Equipment.
Radio Communication , Navigation and Approach Aid
equipment.
Preceding the oblique stroke, insert one
letter as follows :
-
N : if no equipment for the route to be flown is
carried, or the equipment is unserviceable.
-
S : if standard COM/NAV equipment for the route to
be flown is carried and serviceable.
and/or one or more of the following letters to indicate the
COM/NAV equipment available and serviceable :

A : LORAN A

Item 13 : Departure Aerodrome and
Time ( 8 characters )
Insert the ICAO four letter location
identifier of the departure aerodrome, or if no location assigned, insert
ZZZZ and specify in item other
information, the name of the aerodrome, preceded by DEP/
the estimated off-block time.
Item 15 : Route
Cruising Speed ( maximum 5 characters )
Insert the first cruising speed as
the True Airspeed for the first or whole portion of the flight, in
terms of :
-
Kilometres per hour , expressed as K
followed by 4 figures ( e.g. K0380 )
-
Knots , expressed as N, followed by 4
figures ( e.g. N0230 )
-
Mach Number , when so prescribed by the appropriate
ATS authority to the nearest hundredths of unit mach, expressed as
M followed by 3 figures ( e.g. M082 )
Cruising Level ( maximum 5 characters )
Insert the planned cruising
level for the first or the whole cruising portion of the route to be
flown, in terms of :
-
Flight Level expressed as F followed by 3
figures ( e.g. F095 , F280 )
-
Altitude in hundreds of feed expressed as A
followed by 3 figures ( e.g. A025 , A110 )
-
Standard Metric level in tens of metres expressed
as S followed by 4 figures ( e.g. S1140 )

Altitude in tens of metres expressed as M
followed by 4 figures ( e.g. M8050 ) (**)

or, for VFR flights where the flight is not planned to be
flown at a specific cruising level, the letters VFR.
(**) When so prescribed by the appropriate
authorities.
Route including changes of speed, level an/or flight
rules. ( note that is an abbreviated instruction).
Flight along designated ATS routes :
Insert the designator of the first
route, or the letters DCT followed by the point of joining the
route. Then insert each point at which a change of route, speed or
flight rules is planned, followed by the designator of the next route
segment.
Flight outside designated routes :
Points not normally more than 30
minutes flying time, or 200 nm apart, including each point where a change
of speed, level, track or flight rules is planned.
Item 16 : Destination Aerodrome and
EET
Destination Aerodrome and estimated elapsed time ( 8
characters )
Insert the ICAO four letter
location indicator of the destination aerodrome followed by the total
estimated elapsed time, or if no designator has been assigned, insert
ZZZZ followed by the EET and specify in item other
information the name of the aerodrome preceded by
DEST/
Alternate Aerodrome
Insert the ICAO four letter
location indicator of alternate aerodrome or, if no
designator has been assigned, insert ZZZZ and specify in item
other information the name of the aerodrome
preceded by ALTN/
Item 18 : Other
Information
Insert 0 ( zero ) if no other
information, or, any other necessary information in the preferred sequence
shown below, in the form of an appropriate indicator followed by an
oblique stroke and the information to be recorded.

ALTN/ destination alternate aerodrome if the letter
group „ZZZZ“ is inserted in Item 16
-
AWR/Rn Alternative flight plan on the basis of the
Aircraft Operator „What-If“ Re-route Function (AOWIR), whereby „n“
designates the current number of the AOWIR alternative flight plan

CODE/ Aircraft address (expressed in the form of an
alphanumerical code of six hexadecimal characters) when required by the
appropriate ATS authority

COM/ indication of radio telephony equipment
carried if letter „Z“ is indicated in Item 10

DAT/ Data related to data link; followed by the
letters S (for satellite), H (for HF), V (for VHF), and/or M (for SSR

Item 19 : Supplementary
Information
This information is not filed with the flightplan, but is
kept at the unit where the plan was filed. In case of emergency the
supplementary information will be transmitted to the appropriate rescue
agencies.
Endurance
After E/ insert a 4 figure
group giving the fuel endurance in hours and minutes.
Persons on Board
After P/ insert the total
number of persons ( passengers and crew ) on board, when required by the
appropriate ATS authority. Insert TBN (to be
notified) if the total number of persons is not known when
filing.
Pilot in command (PIC)
After C/ insert the name of the PIC
(Pilot in command) as in information you provided when you complete your
registration form
Aircraft colour and markings
(MTL)
After A/ insert
aircraft type you wish other pilots and controllers see you with (when
available, if not you can choose similar one), and texture with
significant markings
